Derek Harrison

Reflections of Life

Derek Tyrone Harrison entered this world at 4:30 a.m. February 6, 1975 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas.

As a child, Derek had a big imagination and a creative mind. He loved the outdoors and exploring the unknown. He could create or build something out of nothing. He attended Douglass Elementary School, Northwest Middle School and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1993.

After graduation, Derek enlisted in the Navy for a short period of time until April 1994. He held various jobs throughout his life.

Two of the greatest events in Derek’s life were the birth of his children. His daughter, Darriane Danielle Harrison and his son, Terrell Da’Shon Harrison. He shared these events with the mother of his children, Theresa Y. Bell. Derek loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally.

Derek departed this earthly life on September 8, 2025. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, James D. (J.D.) Harrison, maternal grandmother, Frances M. (Marcine) Harrison, and 5 uncles.

Left to cherish Derek’s memory: his mother, Rosalyn “Stormy” Harrison, his stepfather, Richard L. Phillips, Jr.; his daughter, Darriane Danielle Harrison (Corey Davis), his son, Terrell Da’Shon Harrison, stepsister, Sharron Rogers, stepbrother, Richard “June” Phillips, his granddaughters; Kameron D. Harrison, Ma’Layah V. Carter- Harrison, Reign A. Harrison, Treasure D. Harrison, Remi J. Harrison, Rylei D. Harrison, uncle: James E. "Toke" Harrison (Margarette), aunts: Nona C. Wiley (Roy), Marcia L. Moore, Janice Burgin Harrison, and a host of cousins, loving relatives and friends.
