Tyron Lamar "Pooh" Payne (Payne) Obituary (1983 - 2023)

Tyron "Pooh" Payne was born on March 14, 1983, to Corrine Payne and Craig Cohen in Kansas City, Kansas. Pooh, as he was affectionately called because of his young mother's love for Winnie the Pooh at the time, left this world on May 19,2023. Tyron brought joy and happiness to Roosevelt Street where his mother grew up. Being the first kid born amongst young neighborhood friends, they all soon shared the responsibility to look out for the new kid on the block. Being the first grandchild in both his maternal and paternal families, he was cherished and spoiled by his doting relatives as well. From his earliest days, he possessed a calm and laid-back demeanor, which was balanced with a charming goofiness. While Tyron started as a quiet child, he blossomed into a compassionate and caring individual. His gentle nature and selfless acts of kindness endeared him to everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a genuine empathy for others and was always ready to lend a helping hand or offer a listening ear. Tyron cherished moments spent with family and loved ones. He adored family gatherings, where he would joke and get everyone riled up. He had a unique way of getting on his family's nerves, they will always keep that spot reserved for him. He knew that and would always push it to the limits. He was not a perfect man, but an honest man who held no punches. Pooh had a special relationship with his younger sister Toya; Aunts Dominique and Yonnie (Yolanda). Yonnie created the spoiled child he was growing up; you couldn't tell her he wasn't her child. Dominique was his mother/sister/confidante in his adult life even though she was 3 years younger. Toya was his 2nd mother; he affectionately called her his "Big" sister/wife/momma. He was proceeded in death by his Father: Craig Cohen; Grandfathers: Freddie King and George Black; his God given Grandmother Lucinda Scott; Aunt: Victoria Payne; Uncles: Darrell Payne, Donzell Payne, and Otha "Neil" White; Cousin: Treselle King, & Clinton Sherwood Jr. Tyron leaves to cherish his memory, His Mother: Corrine Payne; Grandmothers: Shirley Payne and Phillis Ginn; His Children: Tylee Motley-Payne, Ta'niya Payne, Ja'Kelston Dillon, Tyron Payne Jr., Aliyah Payne, Jay'ceon Payne, Zola Jackson; Siblings: Toya (Brandon) Webb, Jeron Reese, Katasha Cohen and Craig Cohen Jr.; Uncles: Ronald Payne and Robert Payne; Aunts: Dominique King, Yolonda Tomlin-Taylor, Cornetta Tomlin, Paula Douglas, Bonita (James) Fredrick and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and God given Aunts and Uncles. Tyron's absence from this world will leave a void that can never be filled. But as we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible person he was and the joy he brought into our lives. He will be remembered as a beloved father, son, grandson, nephew, cousin, love interest and loyal friend.
